1.1 - Some requests, and some fixes

20 September 2026

Auto refresh of added music

Sync an album from your Mac, or buy one, and lytti picks it up by itself the next time you open it. No more wondering where the new record went. Pull to refresh still works. You just shouldn't need it.

More lyrics!

lytti now reads the lyrics tagged in your own files, synced ones included, and those need no connection at all. Online lyrics still fill the gaps, and there's a switch in Settings if you'd rather lytti never went looking.

Export galore!

Ever wondered how often you play your guilty pleasures? Now you can know. lytti keeps every play, not just the last 200, and writes them to a spreadsheet file as you listen - export it, open it on your computer, import one back. It lives on the new Data screen in Settings, with everything else lytti keeps.

1.0 - We're live

8 September 2026

First release, and there was much rejoicing

lytti is on the App Store. Everything below is new, in the strict sense that nobody outside one phone has had it - which is a very small sample. Welcome, and tell us what falls over.

What lytti is

lytti plays the music that is already on your phone, and nothing else. No catalog, no subscription, nothing to sign in to. The albums you synced, bought or downloaded sit in a grid you can set from 2 to 5 across with a pinch, sorted by artist, genre, what arrived last or what you play most.

Finding things

Search finds songs, not just albums and artists, and it is there on Home as well as the grid. Tap a result to play it and the rest follow on; hold one to drop it into a playlist.

A player, not a storefront

The cover fills the screen and the colours come off it - and on its side the record takes the left half, with the songs beside it. Time-synced lyrics scroll with the song, and tapping a line jumps there. When a record ends lytti keeps going: the next album, or something in the same vein, worked out on the phone.

Playlists that are yours

Make one, name it, add songs, drag them into order, delete it when you're done. These live in lytti, so there is nothing to sign in to and nothing of yours gets rewritten. The playlists already on your phone sit in the same list, marked Music - and Edit a Copy in lytti makes one yours.

Where you left off

Home gathers what you've been playing, what you play most and what arrived last, in whatever order you put the views in. A Recently Played widget puts your last records on the home screen. Play counts move when you listen here, because lytti keeps its own beside the one no app can write.

Yours to fix, and yours to keep

Rename an album, correct an artist, drop in your own cover - your edits sit on top of the original and your library is never touched. Playlists, counts and history travel through your own iCloud, and Settings → Backup writes the lot to a file you keep.

Not here yet

lytti can't import files of its own, so FLAC isn't supported and the music has to reach your library the usual ways. If that's what you came for, say so in Settings → Send Feedback - it is top of the list, and what happens next is at lytti.app.
