lytti is out on the App Store, free, and made by one person. Write to support@lytti.app and a human reads it. If you would rather not write an email, there is a two-tap form on the front page, and it reaches the same place.

Common questions

The grid is empty, or albums are missing

lytti plays what is already in your iPhone's music library, and it cannot put music there itself. Music has to arrive the usual ways: synced from a computer, bought in the iTunes Store app, or downloaded from Apple Music. Anything still only in the cloud will not appear until it is downloaded to the phone. If you have just added something, pull down on the library to refresh. If albums that used to be there have gone, read the next answer.

Albums vanished after I turned on Sync Library

This one is Apple's, and it catches people out. Sync Library and syncing music from a computer are mutually exclusive: turning Sync Library on removes the songs you synced from your Mac or PC and leaves your Apple Music library in their place. Anything you have not downloaded stays in the cloud, so what is left playable offline is whatever has been downloaded. lytti shows exactly what the phone reports it has, so those albums disappear from lytti too.

Getting them back means connecting the phone to the computer and syncing again, and syncing that way requires Sync Library to be off. Turning it off also removes the Apple Music songs you downloaded, and you have to download them again afterwards. Apple describes the same rule in its own guide to syncing music.

There is no setting where both live on the phone at once. Pick the one that holds the music you actually want with you.

A song is listed but will not play

That track is in your library but its file is not on the phone yet. Open it in the Music app and download it, then pull to refresh in lytti.

Can I import my own files? What about FLAC?

Not yet. lytti reads your existing library rather than keeping its own files, so FLAC and drag-and-drop import are not supported today. Whether they get built depends on how many people ask, so if that is what you came for, say so - it is the single most useful thing you can tell me. What is planned is on the roadmap.

Why can I not edit a playlist that came from the Music app?

Apple does not allow it. An app can only change playlists it created itself, so the ones that came from the Music app are read-only here, and lytti never writes to your Music library. Open one and choose Edit a Copy in lytti: the copy is yours to rename, reorder and prune, and the original is left alone.

The lyrics are missing, or out of step

Lyrics come from LRCLIB, a free and open database kept up by the people who use it. Not every track is in it, and a few are timed against a different release of the same song. Nothing is wrong with your file when that happens. Once a song's words have been fetched they are stored on the phone and work offline.

The play count does not match the Music app

No app can write to the count your music library keeps, so lytti keeps its own and shows the two added together. In Settings you can count only what you play here instead, or clear lytti's counts entirely.

I said no to the library permission by mistake

Open the iPhone's Settings, scroll to lytti, and turn Media & Apple Music back on. lytti cannot ask a second time itself.

How do I keep my edits and playlists?

Playlists you make in lytti, your play counts and your listening history travel through your own iCloud, so they come back on a new phone. Your renames and your own cover art live on the device: Settings > Backup writes everything to a file you keep. Lyrics are cached rather than synced, and are simply fetched again when needed.

What lytti needs

iOS 26 or later, on iPhone. There is no iPad layout yet. There is no account to make, no subscription, and browsing and playback work with the phone in airplane mode - only lyrics and a few cover images need the network, and they fail quietly without it.

Reporting a bug

Three things make a report fixable: what you did, what happened instead, and the version. The version is in Settings > About and looks like 1.0 (2.43) - the number in brackets is the one that identifies the exact build. A screenshot is worth a paragraph.
